The workshop "Prospects for development of air transport and logistics in the Łódź agglomeration" has just come to an end. Last week (3.03), the perspectives of changes in the global and local aviation market, as well as the evolution of distribution systems in urban areas were discussed by a group of experts and panellists in the TUL Sports Bay.

The experts also discussed the role of 5G technology in transport and the significance of electromobility in handling 'last mile' deliveries, especially in the Łódź agglomeration, which was the reference for the entire discussion.

The global and local aviation market was analysed by Dr Dominik Boniecki and Dr Paweł Zagrajek, who not only outlined the current situation of the industry and the Łódź airport, but also presented factors for the development of air transport in the near future.

The subject of 5G technology used in transport was presented by Professor Sławomir Wiak, Director of the 5G Competence Centre at TUL. 5G technology, along with electromobility, which was discussed in the next panel co-chaired by Professor Łukasz Szymański, Vice Dean for Development of the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering at TUL, is, according to many experts, the future of transport, especially in urban areas.

The problems and opportunities of the "last mile" transport were presented by Professor Wojciech Paprocki, Director of the Infrastructure Institute at the Warsaw School of Economics, who has watched the transformation of the transport system in the world for many years. The substantive part was concluded by Professor Kamil Liberadzki, who spoke about the role of financial markets in solving environmental problems related to the TSL sector, e.g. with the use of green financial instruments. This was an introduction to the discussion, which was hosted by the President of the "LODZistics" Cluster, Dean of the Faculty of Organisation and Management at TUL, Professor Agnieszka Zakrzewska-Bielawska.

During the panel discussion hosted by Professor Wojciech Paprocki from the Warsaw School of Economics, the participants had an opportunity to talk to a representative of local authorities - Mateusz Sowa, Director of the Legal and Organisational Department of the Marshal's Office. The presence of Andrzej Siess, an advisor to the Management Board of the Raben Group, a leading international logistics operator, was an excellent addition to the university- local government relations discussion. The debate was also attended by Artur Fraj,

Commercial Director of the Łódź Airport, the development prospects of which were analysed

The guests, speakers and panellists debated at the panel, but also during unofficial discussions in the lobby about the future of air transport in our region. We are glad that our university could host such an esteemed group and at the same time be a place for exchanging ideas and views, as well as a platform for discussing topics important to the economy and residents of our region - said Adam Owczarek, TUL Development Department Manager, co-organizer of the event.

The workshop was held in the hybrid formula, in cooperation with Lodz University of Technology, Warsaw School of Economics and University of Lodz. The event was held under the patronage of TUL Cluster LODZistics and Open Eyes Economy Summit.
