Starting on 11 July, a team of students and graduates from Lodz University of Technology, together with representatives of other Polish technical universities active in the Circle of Young Polish Union of Engineers and Construction Technicians (PZITB), will carry out another Workcamp project for a fortnight.

This year's edition is special for the Young PZITB Circle - the project is being resumed after a year's break caused by the COVID 19 pandemic. This time, the Workcamp participants, during their holidays, will be renovating the common area of the Orphanage No. 15 at 206 Kilińskiego St. The activities are of a charitable nature, based on the work of volunteers who want to devote their time and part of their holidays to the good of the weaker ones and those in need of help.

This year we will be rearranging the space of several rooms: the corridor, the kitchen, the living room and the computer room. The renovation, which as always starts with demolition, will create a new place for the kids to spend time together, informs Mateusz Gimziński, a construction graduate from TUL who has been involved in the Workcamp project for many years. - Our key task is to ensure that daylight is available to the room, which is a space for spending time together. We will connect this currently blind playroom with the computer room, which has a window.

To this end, the workcampers have planned to relocate the partition walls, which will enable a more favourable use of the facility's space. The walls and ceilings will be given a new look, as will the door carpentry, and the floors will be replaced with new furniture.

As they do every year, the volunteers have invited companies and individuals from the construction sector, but also from other sectors, to join them. You can still join the renovation team. As the project organisers assure, you do not need to have experience in this type of work. The estimated value of the entire project is over PLN 30 thousand.
