Dr Maciej Fronczak is an assistant professor in the Department of Molecular Engineering and will join the Plasma Chemistry Research Group headed by Dr Zoltán Károly, a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, on a research placement.
As the laureate explains - The project funded by the programme concerns the synthesis of graphene materials in a thermal plasma stream. The research is aimed at developing a fast and highly efficient method. The designed graphene materials may find application as a catalyst carrier, a component of mechanically durable composites or a material used in electrochemistry.
The Research Centre for Life Sciences is a leading centre in Hungary, where researchers work on new materials for applications in the fields of renewable energy, electronics and environmental engineering.
Dr Maciej Fronczak plans to carry out his postdoctoral internship during the upcoming summer holidays. The research will take 3 months. This will be his second scientific stay at the centre in Budapest. He was already there in 2015, conducting research for his PhD thesis.
