Professor Jan Awrejcewicz was honoured with the highest academic degree. The title of doctor honoris causa was conferred on the outstanding scientist from Lodz University of Technology by the Prydniprovsky State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture (PSACEA).  

The Ukrainian PSACEA university, based in Dnipro, is one of the main academic universities in the south of the country, with a history dating back to 1930. It educates students at seven faculties, including the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, which cooperates with Lodz University of Technology. 

 The ceremony of awarding the honoris causa doctorate to Prof. Jan Awrejcewicz took place online. The laudation was delivered by the doctorate supervisor, Prof. Vladyslav Danishevskyy, the Vice Rector of this university. Words of appreciation for the impressive achievement were heard not only by members of the PSACEA Senate, but also by vice-rectors for scientific research from all universities of the Prydniprovsk region and representatives of the local government. The Rector of Lodz University of Technology Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik was also a guest at the ceremony. 
Congratulating Prof. Awrejcewicz on his outstanding achievements, Rector Mykola Savytskyi expressed hope for a meeting soon after the end of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.

Thanking for the acceptance into the academic circle of the Ukrainian university Prof. Jan Awrejcewicz named his domestic and foreign teachers who have contributed to obtaining this honorary degree. He mentioned the history and achievements of the employees of the department under his leadership, and indicated the prospects for further fruitful cooperation with PSACEA employees and students.
 
Professor Jan Awrejcewicz, a corresponding member of the Polish Academy of Sciences, is a holder of an honorary doctorate degrees from several universities. He received this title from the Bielsko-Biała University of Technology and Humanities, Częstochowa University of Technology, Gdańsk University of Technology, Kielce University of Technology and Kharkiv University of Technology. 

At Lodz University of Technology he heads the Department of Automation, Biomechanics and Mechatronics at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. He belongs to a group of scientists who have an impressive publication record. It includes, among others, over 850 publications in journals, 54 monographs, 2 textbooks, 33 edited collections of papers and 22 post-conference books. His articles and research cover various areas of science related to mechanics, applied mathematics, biomechanics, automation and physics.   

He has successfully supervised 26 doctoral students. He is a member of the newly elected Council for Scientific Excellence. He has been honoured with many national and international awards, including the Alexander von Humboldt Prize (twice).
