In the 4th edition of the national contest Stena Circular Economy Award - Leader of Circular Economy, an idea submitted by students of Lodz University of Technology was recognised.

The competition jury evaluated a total of 57 entries, including 18 in the student category "GOZ Implementation Proposals".

Students of Lodz University of Technology: Piotr Długosz and Jacek Organiściak were awarded for the project "Reusable courier packaging". Its aim is to minimise the production of waste by introducing reusable packaging made of "green" polymers.

As the authors of the project say

We have noticed a big problem of transport packaging being left behind after a courier's visit. This is particularly evident now during the pandemic and the closure of stationary shops. Overflowing containers for waste paper or plastic bear witness to this. Reusable courier packaging would alleviate this problem - you would only receive the product you ordered without any unnecessary materials. We suggested using recycled polyethylene for the packaging, as it is a strong material, resistant to environmental conditions, and above all, easy to process. The packaging also contains a stabilisation system that eliminates the fillers currently used. The only disposable element of the packaging will be a safety seal, which is also made from recycled materials and can be recycled.
