Lodz University of Technology and the Lodz Voivodship have concluded an agreement on cooperation in the field of cyber security. The plan is to create a nationally unique "Competence Centre for Computer Forensics and Cyber Security", the first element of which will be a "Workshop for digital modelling of crime scenes", which Lodz University of Technology will equip with specialist equipment. The voivodship will provide PLN 282,000 for this purpose. The university's own contribution will amount to PLN 94,000.

The document was signed by Rector Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik and Lodz Voivodeship Marshal Grzegorz Schreiber.

- The studio will use interactive 3D acquisition technologies to build crime scene models. The modelling of artefacts and user interaction, as well as augmented and virtual reality techniques, will allow for in-depth analysis of acquired data on digital activity from cyberspace as well. The laboratory will also provide an information processing system and conduct research on designs of tools optimised for the work of police services," says dr hab. inż. Andrzej Romanowski, Assoc. Prof.

The Rector, Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik stated that

The creation of the laboratory is the most important step in the project of creating a provincial competence centre for Computer Forensics and Cyber Security at Lodz University of Technology. We are very well prepared for this, having cooperated with the Provincial Police Headquarters in this area for many years. We count on the development of this project by tightening cooperation with the Marshal's Office and the Police, which will certainly contribute to the improvement of cybersecurity of the residents of Lodz voivodeship.
