Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Arts et Métiers (ENSAM) was the first university which Lodz University of Technology signed a double diploma agreement with. This long-standing cooperation will continue under the new agreement. Another group of students will receive diplomas of both universities during one course of study. Lodz University of Technology has been selected as the only university in Central and Eastern Europe to continue such extensive cooperation with ENSAM.

The agreement will cover fields of study taught at as many as three faculties - Mechanical Engineering; Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering; and Management and Production Engineering - which are conducted in English and French at the International Faculty of Engineering (IFE).  

- Each year, 15 students from both TUL and ENSAM will be able to obtain the double diploma. They will go through a demanding recruitment process. In total, they will spend two years outside their home universities, and while working on their diploma thesis under the supervision of Polish and French supervisors, they will receive diplomas from Lodz University of Technology and Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Arts et Métiers. The French university ENSAM belongs to the prestigious "Grande École" and enjoys an international reputation - explains the director of International Cooperation Centre dr inż. A double degree is a valuable asset in career development. This opportunity will be available at Lodz University of Technology to students of: Mechanical Engineering, Business and Technology, Gestion et Technologie, Master of Operations Management, Master in Human-Computer Interaction, Master of Mechanical Engineering, Master of Business Studies.

The newly negotiated agreement was signed online. The virtual meeting was attended by representatives of ENSAM authorities. The head, Prof. Michel Jauzein, noted that the agreement creates great opportunities for both Polish and French students who will come to Lodz.  

- It is an important direction of development for the university and I am glad that the cooperation will be further developed, also on the scientific level.
  

Christophe Paoli, Attaché for Scientific and Academic Cooperation of the French Embassy in Poland was a special guest at the ceremony. Congratulating both parties on the agreement, he said that also for the Embassy this is an important event, because ENSAM is in the elite of French universities. He also promised more scholarships for students, as well as for scientists, to support and develop scientific cooperation.

This aspect of cooperation was also highlighted by Vice-Rector Prof. Paweł Strumiłło, who emphasised how important international scientific teams are for the development of science.

- Students within the framework of a double diploma will learn to cooperate internationally and this will be a great lesson for future researchers - he said.   

Next to the signature of the Rector, Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik, the agreement was signed by the Deans: Prof. Tomasz Kubiak, Prof. Agnieszka Zakrzewska-Bielawska and dr hab. Jacek Kucharski, TUL professsor. ENSAM was also represented at the meeting by Andela Ceau-Dura, responsible for international cooperation, and Prof. Agnès Bourg, responsible on the French side for the implementation of the signed agreement.
