The aim of the international consortium is to implement on a European scale biomass carbonization technology using superheated steam. As explained by Dr Szufa
- New technologies are to work in the so-called standalone system, producing heat and electricity and biochar as an additive to the production of organic fertilizers for agriculture, as well as activated carbon for the chemical and energy industries, and adds - New methodologies and experimental data will be used to build innovative modular small-scale reactors operating in dispersed systems .
The project consortium consists of 10 partners from 7 countries: Poland, Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Greece, Great Britain and Ireland.
- The interdisciplinarity of the project results from the specific competences of teams of experts from individual countries working on the tasks set in the BioTrainValue project - emphasizes Dr Szufa - Its important goal is to create an international network of 6 academic and 4 non-academic institutions working on a joint research program leading to technological progress in the methodology of biomass carbonization and the processing of waste from agricultural and food production (solid waste from agricultural biogas plants) into renewable electricity, technological heat and biofuels. This will be achieved, among others, by exchange of academic and engineering staff between partners, joint publications, seminars, expert workshops, interactive lectures, and participation in international conferences combined with industry fairs.
