Lodz University of Technology is the co-host of the European Universities Games, EUG 2022, which will be held from 17 to 30 July 2022. The organizers expect up to 6,000 people from over 40 European countries to participate in the event.

They will include student-athletes, coaches, staff, volunteers and fans. At that time, Lodz will become the capital of European academic sport, and the organizers will host several dozen rectors of European universities.

For the needs of the Games, Lodz University of Technology will provide 1750 beds in the First, Third, Fourth, Seventh and Eighth Hall of Residence.

Due to the above extraordinary situation, the rules of accommodation in the student halls of residence of Lodz University of Technology, in force in previous years during the summer holidays, are being changed.

1. All students of Lodz University of Technology accommodated in student halls of residence are obliged to vacate their accommodation no later than 6 July 2022 (i.e. the last day of the summer examination session of the academic year 2021/2022).

2. Individuals who are not students of Lodz University of Technology and who reside in student halls of residence are obliged to vacate their accommodation no later than 30 June 2022 (excluding employees of Lodz University of Technology, participants of doctoral studies and doctoral candidates of the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School, accommodated in the First and Ninth Student Hall of Residence, TUL.

Pursuant to § 17 (4) of the Rules and Regulations of the Student Halls of TUL Residential Area, "The resident bears full responsibility for the property entrusted to them and is obliged to return it in an unchanged condition in terms of quantity and quality, within the framework of proper use. Responsibility for the condition of the room is borne by the Residents occupying it. They are also responsible for tidying up the room/suite before check-out, irrespective of the sequence in which they move out of the room/suite.

4. There will be no possibility to stay in the student halls of residence assigned to accommodate the participants of the EUG 2022 for the summer holiday period defined in the academic year calendar 2021/2022, i.e. from 7 July to 11 September 2022.

5. Students of Lodz University of Technology who are forced to stay in Lodz during the summer holidays in the academic year 2021/2022 for various reasons connected with the educational process will be able, subject to availability of places, to use accommodation in the Fifth, Sixth or Ninth Hall of Residence. A necessary condition in such cases will be submitting written applications for accommodation in the above-mentioned halls of residence to the administration of the student's current place of residence. Deadline for submission of applications: 30 May 2022.

6. The following shall have priority in receiving accommodation during the summer holiday of the academic year 2021/2022:

a. foreign students studying at Lodz University of Technology,

b. foreign students studying in Lodz University of Technology within the framework of interuniversity exchange (Erasmus),

c. students of Lodz University of Technology involved in practical training included in the study program,

d. Participants of IAESTE internships,

e. students formally employed in research projects carried out by the University,

f. students in the final semester of their studies who, in order to complete their thesis, need to use the University's research infrastructure.

7. The application must be accompanied by:

- in the case referred to in (a), an opinion of the head of the student hall of residence which is the student's current place of residence,

- in the case referred to in (b), an opinion from the head of the student hall of residence or the International Cooperation Centre, TUL.

- in the case referred to in (c), a document confirming the completion of the internship in Lodz during the planned accommodation period, signed by the supervisors of the internship or the Vice-Deans for Student Affairs,

- In the case referred to in (d), a list of the students' names, approved by the Rector's Proxy for Student Internships and IAESTE,

- in the case referred to in (e), an opinion of the project manager confirming the necessity of the student's physical presence at the University,

- in the case referred to in letter (f), an opinion of the diploma thesis supervisor confirming the necessity of the student's physical presence at the University.

8. Only justified and documented applications for accommodation in student halls of residence at Lodz University of Technology will be considered.

9. Applications for accommodation during the summer break will be considered by the Head of the TUL Residential Area by 15 June 2022. Information about the decision taken will be communicated to the applicant by the administration of the student hall of residence in which the applicant is currently accommodated. The decision will be final and will not be subject to appeal.
