Professor Jan Awrejcewicz has received an honorary doctorate degree from the Prydniprovsky State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture (PSACEA) in Ukraine. This is the first TUL honorary doctorate degree conferred in an online ceremony.

The Rector of Lodz University of Technology Professor Krzysztof Jóźwik took part in the ceremony. The laudation was delivered by the doctoral supervisor, Professor Vladyslav Danishevskyy, Vice Rector of PSACEA.

Thanking for the acceptance into the academic circle of the Ukrainian university, Prof. Jan Awrejcewicz named his domestic and foreign teachers who have contributed to obtaining this honorary degree. He mentioned the history and achievements of the employees of the department under his leadership, and indicated the prospects for further fruitful cooperation between TUL and PSACEA.

Professor Jan Awrejcewicz, a corresponding member of the Polish Academy of Sciences, is a holder of an honorary doctorate degrees from five universities: Bielsko-Biała University of Technology and Humanities, Częstochowa University of Technology, Gdańsk University of Technology, Kielce University of Technology and Kharkiv University of Technology.

At Lodz University of Technology he heads the Department of Automation, Biomechanics and Mechatronics at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. His academic achievements include over 850 publications in journals, 54 monographs, 2 textbooks, 33 edited collections of papers and 22 post-conference books. He conducts research in various scientific areas related to mechanics, applied mathematics, biomechanics, automation and physics. He has promoted 26 doctoral students.

He is a member of the newly elected Council for Scientific Excellence. He has been honoured with many national and international awards, including the Alexander von Humboldt Prize (twice).

PSACEA, based in Dnipro, educates students at seven faculties, including the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, which cooperates with Lodz University of Technology.
