The results of the next edition of one of the most prestigious international rankings, U.S. News Best Global Universities, were published in the institutional and by subject classifications. This year, TUL was classified in four disciplines.

There are only 2 Polish universities in Chemical Engineering - Lodz University of Technology and Warsaw University of Technology. In Engineering 1000 universities were classified, including 12 Polish universities. Lodz University of Technology was ranked 444th in the world and 4th in Poland, moving up 89 places compared to last year. In Chemistry it is ranked 719th in the overall ranking, and 8th in Poland, as one of 16 Polish universities. In Materials Science we are 659th in the world and 10th in Poland, also as one of the 15 Polish universities - explains Justyna Kopańska from the International Cooperation Centre, emphasising that last year we were classified in this ranking only in one discipline.

The institutional ranking included 1750 best universities in the world, including 37 higher education institutions from Poland. The best ranked were Jagiellonian University (320th) and Warsaw University (344th). Lodz University of Technology was classified on the 1326th position.

The institutional ranking and by subject use 13 indicators grouped into three areas - reputation indicators (25% of weight), bibliometric indicators (65% of weight), indicators of scientific excellence (10% of weight). The results are published by US News & World Report, based in Washington, DC (USA), which has been creating and publishing rankings of US universities (Best Colleges Ranking and others) since the mid-1980s.
