The Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MEiN) will provide PLN 230 thousand to students of Lodz University of Technology who are active in five student research groups. The granted funds come from the programme "Studenckie koła naukowe tworzą innowacje" [Student research groups create innovations].

With the money obtained from MEiN, the interdisciplinary Lodz Solar Team, which successfully takes part in international competitions, will modernise the Eagle Two solar car. In turn, students of the Robotics Student Research Group at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering will build a prototype of an unmanned aerial vehicle with a unique propulsion system.

Two of the winning projects concern Student Research Groups from the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering. The group from SKaNeR will build a drone with a maximum take-off weight of 8-12 kg, which will be used, among others, for the cooperation of drones with land robots. Students from Student Research Group Energetyk, on the other hand, have planned to construct an innovative laboratory stand on the basis of the one already existing at the Institute of Electrical Power Engineering, which is used to test pumps. The new stand will make it possible to carry out various studies at a single facility.

Another group of young innovators, this time from the Student Research Group Momencik from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Environmental Engineering, will investigate the thermal permeability of windows in buildings. Students, using non-destructive measurement technologies, will examine flexible reinforcements separating glass panes. Their mechanical and strength parameters are crucial for the durability of a composite window.
