Once again, most important Polish innovators met in Uniejów (19-20.10) at the Smart Development Forum (SDF), also known as the Congress of Projects of the Future. The Forum is a good opportunity to recognize the best Polish projects.

Smart Development Forum is an important event that is not only a promotion of innovative projects, but also of their benefits for our economy. During the gala, scientists from Lodz University of Technology received four awards.

The winner of the 2023 Polish Smart Development Award in the Projects of the Future category is the Hybrid-ElectriC regional Aircraft distribution Technologies (HECATE ) project team. This is an EU project that aims to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 and is being implemented by a consortium of 37 partners from 11 countries. The key to the project success is expected to be the development of the small regional hybrid-electric aircraft. The €40 million venture is coordinated by Collins Aerospace. Lodz University of Technology is a partner in this project, and its coordinator at Lodz University of Technology is Dr. Aleksandra Ziemińska-Stolarska from the Faculty of Process and Environmental Engineering, who received the award.

Three scientists from Lodz University of Technology were awarded with the title Scientist of the Future for conducting innovative research.

  • Aleksandra Ziemińska- Stolarska, PhD, was awarded in the category Women Who Change the World, for conducting innovative research with a measurable impact on the development of environmental projects and her extensive involvement in international research projects, such as HECATE.
  • Marcin Barburski, PhD, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Material Technologies and Textile Design at Lodz University of Technology, was awarded for the implementation, dissemination and promotion of a SustDesignTex project. The full title of the project is: Sustainable Industrial Design of Textile Structures for Composites. Prof Barburski is the coordinator of the award-winning project.
  • Jacek Stańdo PhD, Associate Professor at the Centre of Mathematics and Physics at TUL, was recognized for his implementation of the Math3geove project – Mathematical models for teaching three-dimensional geometry using virtual reality and his positive approach to disseminating research results to the general public. Prof. Stańdo is a member of the Programme Board of the SDF Foundation, an advisory body which provides guidelines and opinions on the organization’s activities.
