I applied to LAP because I heard very encouraging feedback about the program from participants in previous editions. LAP is an apolitical initiative that aims to contribute to the development of good leadership for Poland and the world. For me personally, the most important thing is to make a positive impact on technological education, especially at Lodz University of Technology and Lodz. I am grateful and proud that the city of Lodz supported this candidacy as a "nominating partner"

– comments the scientist, who after a three-stage recruitment process was among the 40 participants in the current edition of the program. The application may (but need not) be supported by one of the nominating partners, which in this case was the city of Lodz.

When recruiting for LAP, you need to present your goals and stand out from the wide competition. The number of applicants annually exceeds 15 people per place. Assoc. Prof. Grzegorz Liśkiewicz, Ph.D. presented as his motivation the desire to change the way the younger generation is prepared for a technology-filled future. In his words:

We need to shape people who will courageously create new technologies and solutions. We should change as soon as possible from a model based on lecturing to one based on empowering talent and competence. When I was finishing my master's degree, most of my friends were leaving Lodz in search of a better life. I want to see the opposite - talents coming to TUL and to Lodz excited by the opportunities and atmosphere of this environment.

Leadership Academy for Poland is aimed at people actively working in the business sector, academia, non-profit organizations, public administration, media, culture and sports or in the startup segment. This is the only program based on the unique Leadership 4D-Experience™ method. Participants develop leadership competencies in the interpersonal (leading in an organization, understanding employee motivation, building long-term team capabilities), systemic (managing the complexity of the environment) and self-improvement (sources of motivation and attitude toward self, people and the world) areas.

Assoc. Prof. Grzegorz Liśkiewicz, PhD, is head of the Division of Turbines and Compressors at the Institute of Turbomachinery. In the past, he has served, among other positions, as Proxy of the Rector for Academic Entrepreneurship, and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Technology Transfer Center sp. z o.o. (now Tulventure sp z o.o.).

The researcher is working on systems to protect compressors from failure. He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineering, Institute of Physics, The Institution of Engineering and Technology. He is co-founder of F1 in Schools Poland, the Polish edition of the most exciting STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) competition for secondary school students. He has held internships at Leeds University, Oxford University, Cambridge University, University of Strathclyde, General Electri, but it is in Lodz where he feels most comfortable.
