Natalia Jabrzyk, a student of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Environmental Engineering at TUL, has won a silver medal in the 1500m speed skating at the Winter Universiade held in Lake Placid.

She covered the 1500 m course in amazing time of 2.06,19. Two days earlier, on Sunday, in the 1000 m competition, she was fifth among women with the result of 1.22,12, losing only 1.66 s to the winner. On Wednesday (18.01) Natalia will take part in the team run. It is also possible that she will compete in the mass start on Friday.

Last year Natalia Jabrzyk competed at the World Academic Speed Skating Championships, also in Lake Placid. She finished 4th twice - in the 1000m, losing her medal by 0.01s, and in the mass start, with a loss of 0.08s to take bronze. In addition, she placed 5th in the 1500m and 3000m. However, she was lucky once, when she won the gold medal in the team run together with Maja Płończyk and Iga Wojtasik.

Around 1,500 athletes from more than 50 countries are taking part in the Universiade in Lake Placid.

Natalia Jabrzyk, a representative of Poland and Lodz University of Technology, is a third-year student of Urban Planning at first cycle studies.
