I am very happy that Lodz University of Technology is among the best Polish universities in as many as four disciplines, and in the field of chemical engineering in the top three, next to the Warsaw and Wrocław Universities of Technology. This is a very important ranking for us, showing the effect of intensive work. Especially since it was prepared by an external institution, the Quacquarelli Symonds company - an international expert in higher education - commented on the result of the rector of TUL, prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik.

Only 3 Polish universities were classified in the Chemical Engineering: Warsaw University of Technology (201-250), Wrocław University of Technology (251-300) and Lodz University of Technology (351-400). There are 9 Polish universities in Mechanical, Aeronautical & Manufacturing Engineering, including TUL classified in the 401-450 range. In Chemistry, Lodz University of Technology was classified in the 551-600 range, and in addition to it, 8 Polish universities were classified in this discipline. In Materials Science, TUL was in the range of 351-400, and besides it, there are also 7 other Polish universities in the table.

The QS World University 2023 ranking takes into account 54 disciplines, grouped into five broad subject areas. A total of nearly 1,600 universities from around the world are ranked. The ranking takes into account 5 indicators, assigning them different weights, depending on the discipline. Two of them are reputation indicators (academic reputation and employer reputation), which are based on the results of surveys of academics and employers conducted by QS. The other three are: Research citations per paper, H-index, and IRN-index, the latter of which reflects the university's ability to geographically diversify its international research network by forming sustainable research partnerships with other higher education institutions.

Detailed ranking results are available on the QS website.
