Six students presented the results of their work during the first day of Research Week at Lodz University of Technology:

  • Michał Grabowski used 3D printing, which he combined with a light textile structure and created a "tailor-made" knee brace, which perfectly fits his knee. Michał is a student of Mechanics and Mechanical Engineering, and his scientific supervisor was Assoc. Prof. Marcin Barburski.
  • Wiktor Brańczyk is a computer scientist who developed an algorithm for recognizing and translating sign language signs. He worked under the supervision of Piotra Ducha, PhD.
  • Masza Góralczyk conducted spectroscopic studies of aqueous solutions of sulfonamides, drugs with low solubility in water, which is related to the effectiveness of their administration. A student of nature-inspired biomaterials, she worked in the team of Assoc. Prof. Marcin Kozanecki.
  • Anna Kania has developed heating textile composites that can be used in construction. A student of the textile industry carried out the project under the scientific supervision of Assoc. Prof. Marcin Barburski.
  • Marta Kopytkowska has developed an intelligent node in a steel structure inspired by bionics. The student of construction implemented the project under the scientific supervision of Artur Wirowski, PhD, DSc.

The winner of the Rector's Award -Wiktoria Gerlicz, was looking for an answer to the question of what bacteria can do for the world. She worked under the supervision of a mentor - Assoc. Prof. Aneta Białkowska. Her presentation was best appreciated by the committee. More information about the participants of the first edition of the programme can be found on the Research Week website.
