21 March is the first day of spring and at Lodz University of Technology this is the beginning of spring cleaning after the autumn and winter period on university campuses. The university suggests using a mobile application developed especially for this purpose.

Every member of the university community can join the spring cleaning campaign, as well as Lodz residents who visit the campus, for example while walking in Klepacz Park.
Anyone on campus can use the free mobile application "Mobile Alert" to report any irregularities they notice, e.g. a damaged bench, damaged plants, a lighting malfunction, an act of vandalism or rubbish. It is also used to report any incidents concerning damage to the university's external infrastructure, but also incorrect parking or obstacles for the disabled.
Prof. Paweł Strumiłło, Vice-Rector for Development, says:

The application makes it possible to send information about incidents on the campus of Lodz University of Technology, which means that it covers an area of over 80 acres. In such an area it is difficult to precisely pinpoint a location requiring service intervention by phone or e-mail. Geolocalisation technology provided by the application enables to send information about the location on the map to the system dispatcher together with a photo. In this way, the university's maintenance services can react faster.

The application was launched as part of the "Idea Box" project, which is the university's equivalent of a civic budget, for university staff and students. "Mobile Alert" supports the Smart Campus solutions available at Lodz University of Technology.
The application is extremely easy to use and can be installed on both iOS and Android devices. It can be downloaded from the website: Mobile Alert download and Mobile Alert app in App Store.
