The project implemented by Lodz University of Technology "Upgrading outdoor lighting with energy-efficient and environmentally friendly devices" is co-financed by European Funds and is implemented as part of the Regional Operational Programme of the Lodz Voivodeship for 2014-2020.

The project involves the modernization of public lighting using energy-saving and ecological technologies, on Campus A. The location of the lighting is public and accessible, and the use of the infrastructure is free of charge.

The lighting upgrade included work carried out to improve the energy efficiency of the lighting infrastructure.

The lighting upgrade will result in 141 lighting points ( of which 122 points will be upgraded and 19 will be new). The modernization will involve replacing sodium and mercury vapour luminaires with energy-efficient luminaires made using LED technology and 13 units of photovoltaic autonomous luminaires, which do not require system electricity.

The energy-efficient technology will reduce the energy demand from the grid by up to approximately 80 per cent by reducing, among other things, the installed capacity : from 22.589 kW (currently) to 6.180kW (after the upgrade). The expected energy demand of the energy-saving system will be 25,647.00 kWh/year (currently: 93,744.35 kWh/year).

The project is divided into 2 tasks:

  • preparatory works,
  • modernization of external lighting.

The replacement of the public (outdoor) lighting of Campus A will undoubtedly constitute a fundamental metamorphosis also of the lighting management system of the public space of TUL, thanks to the control system.

The project takes into account the concept of universal design, the investment will not create barriers for people with disabilities.
