The results of the National Science Centre (NCN) competitions have proven very beneficial for researchers at Lodz University of Technology. They will implement five projects in Opus 27 and five in Preludium 23, with a total value of nearly 9.4 million PLN.
Our successes
The new year is off to a good start for the university. Two valuable historic buildings belonging to Lodz University of Technology have received over 17 million PLN for modernization. These are the villa of Reinhold Richter located at 6/8 Skorupki Street and the Scheilbler Family Palace Complex at 266/268 Piotrkowska Street.
Professor Krzysztof Jóźwik, Rector of Lodz University of Technology, received the Honorary Badge for Merits to the Lodz Voivodeship. The ceremonial gala took place at the Lodz Philharmonic.
A team of students from Lodz University of Technology has achieved spectacular success, winning the finals of the International Small Wind Turbine Contest (ISWTC) 2024. Their innovative wind turbine won first place in the Sustainability category, further proof of the high quality and innovation of Polish student projects.
Dr. Eng. Marcin Cichy from the Faculty of Organization and Management of the Lodz University of Technology received the first prize in the 15th competition of the Committee of Organization and Management Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences for the best scientific work 2021-2022, in the doctoral theses category.
At the end of December, during a gala organized on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Foundation for the Development of the Education System, dr inż. Dorota Piotrowska, TUL Prof., director of the TUL International Cooperation Centre, received a special award: "Innovation Expert of Erasmus+ InnHub Centres".
The database of the world's most cited authors, published by Elsevier, includes as many as 42 scientists with Lodz University of Technology affiliations.
The winner of the first edition of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education's Pearls of Science competition was Emilia Brancewicz-Steinmetz, a doctoral candidate at the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School at TUL.
President Andrzej Duda, by the decision of February 7, conferred the title of professor of chemical sciences on dr hab. Piotr Polanowski, Faculty of Chemistry at Lodz University of Technology.
The office of the Erasmus+ Innovation Centre InnHUB Lodz was officially opened (9.02) at the International Cooperation Centre of Lodz University of Technology. The activities of the new unit were inaugurated by a meeting with representatives of various institutions from the Lodz region. - We want to assist our society in adapting to the needs of the business environment, to changes in the labour market - said the Rector, Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik, opening the office.
Lodz University of Technology implements 7 projects in the Horizon Europe program, including 3 as a coordinator. - We received information about this third coordination of the project on July 5, so the pool of money allocated to us has increased even more. The budget allocated to the university for their implementation is a total of almost EUR 2.7 million - informs Prof. Łukasz Albrecht, Vice-Rector for Science.
The GUST team from TUL Lodz took second place in the contest organized by the Delft University of Technology in Holland, which took place on 2 June.
