Scientific achievements
Janusz Rogowski, PhD, Eng., is a young scientist in the discipline of civil engineering, geodesy and transport, who received his doctorate in 2023. His most important scientific achievements are in active reinforcement of reinforced concrete structures using FeSMA (Ferrum-based Shape Memory Alloys) rods and strips, carried out under the NCN MINIATURA grant, which he leads. This research lays foundations for the development of innovative methods of improving the load-bearing capacity and durability of concrete structures. He presented his research at IALCCE 2023, fib Symposium 2023, and AMCM 2025.
Research profile
He is interested in innovative material and construction technologies for sustainable construction, with a particular emphasis on the mechanics of reinforced concrete structures and innovative methods of their reinforcement with the use of intelligent materials. A key area of his research is the use of shape-memory alloys and composites for active reinforcement, enabling increased load-bearing capacity, durability and operational efficiency of structures. He analyzes the mechanisms of compression, active limitation
and material interactions, as well as the influence of technological parameters on the behavior of structures under conditions of short-term and long-term loads. He integrates experimental research with advanced numerical modeling and the use of novel measurement techniques, which allows for multi-scale analysis.
Project experience and cooperation
He gained project experience leading his Miniatura research project and as a participant in an OPUS/WEAVE involving multi-level modeling of the shear capacity of reinforced concrete structures to assess reliability and develop safety formulation approaches.
