Dr. Habil. Edyta B. Pietrzak, University Professor, represents the disciplines of Political Science and Public Administration as well as Management and Quality Sciences. Among her most significant scientific achievements in recent years are scholarly monographs published by the renowned Routledge publishing house, including works devoted to civil society, citizenship in the era of the Anthropocene, and the role of women in the context of social and political conflicts. She has also made important contributions to research on the social dimension of sustainable development, gender-responsive citizenship, and the consequences of technological transformation for contemporary societies. Her publications constitute an important voice in international debates on democracy, social participation, and the relationship between technological development and social values.
Research Profile and Research Directions
Her research interests encompass political anthropology, theories of civil society, gender studies, the politics of diversity, and the socio-cultural dimensions of sustainable development. In her work, she examines processes of social participation, inclusion, citizenship, and transformations driven by contemporary civilizational challenges. A central focus of her current research is post-anthropocentrism, which provides a framework for analysing the relationships between society, the environment, and technology, as well as their significance for future models of social and political development. She maintains intensive international collaboration with research institutions in Ireland, Spain, Romania, Türkiye, the Czech Republic, and Bulgaria. She is the leader of an ECIU Seed Programme project dedicated to citizen science and the societal impact of artificial intelligence and is a participant in the Horizon Europe MSCA STAR project.

Her analyses are used as a source of expert knowledge by public institutions and civil society organisations, including the Foundation in Support of Local Democracy (Fundacja Rozwoju Demokracji Lokalnej). She actively disseminates research findings through academic and social podcasts as well as public engagement and opinion-forming activities. She serves as Editor-in-Chief of the academic journal Civitas Hominibus and is actively involved in national and international scholarly organisations, including the International Political Science Association, the European Citizen Science Association, the Polish Association for European Studies, and the Polish Political Science Association.
