Scientific achievements

Dr. Eng. Jarosław Goszczak is a scientist in the discipline of Mechanical Engineering. He received his PhD degree in 2019. His scientific output includes more than 30 articles and two chapters in monographs. He has actively presented the results of his research by participating in over 20 national and international conferences. A significant part of his publications has been produced within the framework of international cooperation.

His most important scientific achievement is the implementation of research on hydraulic drag losses in a disengaged multi-plate clutch within the NCN Miniatura project, which he led in 2020–2021. Another significant achievement was the commissioning of a prototype energy recovery system from the engine cooling circuit, operating according to a low-temperature Rankine cycle.

Research Profile

His interests are focused on powertrain systems, hydraulics, tribology, and the dynamics of mechanical systems. His research includes the analysis of phenomena occurring in multi-plate clutches, Continuously Variable Transmissions (CVT), and electrohydraulic systems. He also deals with motion resistance, vibration damping, and the influence of surface modifications of materials on the dynamic properties of structures. His work leads to improvements in the energy efficiency of powertrain systems.

He participates in initiatives of the ECIU: a scientific workshop in Rouen in 2025 and a study visit to the University of Aveiro in 2026. He publishes jointly with French research centres. He leads and participates in research projects funded by the National Science Centre (Miniatura) and by the internal funds of Lodz University of Technology: within the FU2N and Smart 26 programmes and grants of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

Cooperation with Industry and Distinctions

An important element of his activity is long-term cooperation with industry, in particular with the automotive corporation Stellantis. He conducts prototype research, designs and modifies research stands, and participates in engineering design work. The result of this cooperation is five patent applications in France and five joint articles covering solutions related to heat exchangers, vehicle transport systems, and safety devices. He has also cooperated with Airbus Helicopters Polska and BSH.

For his scientific achievements, he has been honoured, among others, with the Curran–Werner Award for the best graduate of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the nationwide award of the Association of Polish Mechanical Engineers and Technicians for second place for the best diploma thesis in the field of technical sciences. He has also repeatedly received scholarships and Rector's Awards.
