Scientific achievements
Dr. Eng. Monika Zaczyńska conducts research on the stability and safety of lightweight composite and hybrid structures, with particular emphasis on thin-walled structures. Her work focuses on buckling, structural response to dynamic loading, and mechanisms leading to structural failure.
The results of her research have been published in international journals, including Composite Structures, Thin-Walled Structures, and Journal of Sound and Vibration. The models and analytical methods she has developed enable the assessment of how material properties and loading conditions affect the load-carrying capacity and safety of lightweight structures.
Research profile and research directions
In her research, Dr. Eng. Zaczyńska combines mathematical modelling, computer simulations, and experimental investigations. She uses the finite element method and digital image correlation to analyse the global structural response as well as local deformation and damage processes.
She is currently developing research on tailoring structural mechanical response through the appropriate selection of composite layer configurations. Her interests also include the behaviour of lightweight structures under variable, dynamic, and cyclic loading, as well as methods for predicting their reliability.
International experience and recognition
Dr. Eng. Monika Zaczyńska has completed research internships and research stays at TU Delft, DLR, and the University of Coimbra. Since 2022, she has participated in the international COST Action CA21155 HISTRATE focused on advanced composites.
She is a member of the Section of Computational Methods of the Committee of Mechanics of the Polish Academy of Sciences and serves as a reviewer for scientific journals. She has received a distinction for her doctoral dissertation, the Curran-Werner Award for the best graduate of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and a scholarship from the Minister of Science and Higher Education for outstanding achievements.
