Scientific achievements
Professor Krzysztof Ślot from the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering at Lodz University of Technology is a specialist in machine learning and artificial intelligence methods focused on the analysis, processing, and synthesis of images and signals. He was a member of an international research team that developed pioneering concepts for information processing and analysis based on the paradigm of Cellular Neural Networks. Other significant achievements include an original method for semantic content manipulations in deep generative algorithms’ latent spaces and novel ideas for information processing in vector-symbolic architectures.
Research profile and research directions
Professor Ślot’s research profile includes the theory, applications, and implementation of artificial intelligence/ machine learning algorithms. His current research focuses on the development of interpretable data representations in deep learning models and their use in generative systems as well as on multimodal data prediction and analysis.
Research grants and industry collaboration
Professor Ślot is active in acquiring and conducting research projects in collaboration with partners from research institutions as well as companies in the IT sector. He has led Lodz University of Technology research teams involved in international research projects funded under the Horizon 2020 and CHIST-ERA programs, as well as projects with local partners supported by NCBiR and POIG.
Recognition by the scientific community
In recognition of his contributions to the field of neuromorphic information processing, he has been invited to conduct research at several renowned international institutions. These appointments include two, one-year research fellowships (1991 and 1996-1997) at the University of California, Berkeley (USA), as well as an eighteen-month appointment as a visiting professor at Chonbuk National University, South Korea (2005 - 2008).
