Three students from the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Sciences have been selected to participate in the prestigious BioLAB 2025–26 program, which offers a year-long internship at renowned research laboratories in the United States. Lodz University of Technology is the only technical university in Poland with representatives in this year’s edition of the program.
Rukudzo Chihota, a second-semester student of Smart Manufacturing at the International Faculty of Engineering of Lodz University of Technology, presented the results of her research on bactericidal composites at the prestigious WE Local Prague 2025 conference. The event, organized by the Society of Women Engineers in Prague, attracted female engineers and technology specialists from around the globe.
Professor Jacek Szafran, from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Environmental Engineering at Lodz University of Technology, was one of 18 invited keynote speakers at the prestigious Structural Engineers World Congress (SEWC) in Shanghai. He was the sole representative not only of our university but also of Poland.

An academic delegation from Uzbekistan, led by the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Sarvarkhon Buzrukhonov, visited Lodz. The event, organized by the Lodz Academic Partnership, took place at Lodz University of Technology.
Lodz University of Technology is part of a consortium implementing the NEXTMARINE project, which aims to discover and use new enzymes from extreme marine environments. The work in Lodz is led by Assoc. Prof. Anna Masek, from the Institute of Polymer and Dye Technology at the Faculty of Chemistry.

A modern space opened at the International Cooperation Centre will be available to young people and adults who wish to enhance their professional and personal skills. This is the Francophone Employment Centre (Centre d’Employabilité Francophone, CEF), one of the flagship projects of the Francophone University Agency (Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie, AUF). It is the only such centre in Poland.

Maja Łukasik, a graduate of Lodz University of Technology, earned third place in the "Women’s Energy in Transition – Polish Edition" competition, standing out among many talented participants. The event was organized by Dalkia, and the awards ceremony took place on March 24 at the French Embassy in Warsaw, emphasizing the program's French roots.

As part of the LIDER program, a groundbreaking system for diagnosing knee joint ligaments will be developed, which will significantly streamline the diagnostic process. Thanks to the highest precision of measurements, meeting the expectations of specialists, and complete non-invasiveness for the patient, this system will contribute to improving patients' quality of life and increase the effectiveness of treating knee ligament injuries.

More and more people are recognizing the importance of caring for our environment in various aspects of daily life. Protecting the ecosystem involves not only waste segregation or using recyclable packaging but also avoiding food waste and supporting sustainable development. Therefore, the goal of this project is to develop the composition of a mixture and a method for producing edible, biodegradable disposable tableware from plant-based waste materials with health-promoting properties.

Students from the GUST Student Research Club at Lodz University of Technology participated in the international Sustainable Innovation Challenge (SIC) organized by École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland. The event combined a scientific conference with an international competition.
Forty-two teams from 15 universities across seven European countries took part in the preliminary rounds. Twelve teams, including GUST from Lodz University of Technology, advanced to the finals.

Since January 2025, employees from the Faculty of Organization and Management have been participating in the implementation of the project titled "Sustainability Transformation: Research and Innovation Network for Quality Information, Better Sustainability Reporting Practices and Business Resilience (STAR)". Professor Jan Krysiński – four-time rector of Lodz University of Technology, honorary doctor of many universities, and Honorary Citizen of the City of Łódź – passed away on February 19, 2025, at the age of 89.
