Lodz University of Technology (TUL) has established cooperation with Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT). The agreement aims to strengthen academic contacts and promote joint scientific initiatives between the two institutions. The document, signed for five years with the possibility of extension, lays the foundation for building long-term relations between them.

In the representative interiors of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the Council of Visionaries gathered for the first time — a unique advisory body established to jointly create a long-term vision for the faculty’s development and to build bridges between the worlds of science and industry.

Lodz University of Technology once again confirms its strong position in research and innovation. Under the FENG.01.01 competition – Support for Entrepreneurs, SMART Path, organized by the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR), the university secured funding for two research and development projects.

Five students from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture, and Environmental Engineering won an international competition, presenting a project important for European cultural heritage. Damian Gębarski, Weronika Ławniczak, Aleksandra Bugajska, Michał Cegliński, and Zuzanna Czesna — architecture students — won an international contest for the adaptation of the palace and park complex in Zahrádky, Czechia.

Lodz University of Technology hosted nearly 90 representatives of the European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU), representing 12 partner universities from Europe and one from Mexico. The event, held on 23–26 September 2025, was a series of key meetings, including the ECIU Board session. More photos.

Modern science is evaluated not only by the quality of publications but also by citation and impact metrics of researchers—both over their entire careers and during specified periods. One of the most important tools in this area is the database Science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators (Elsevier), which contains standardized bibliometric data such as citation counts, h-index, and indicators adjusted for co-authorship and self-citations.

The summer holidays were not yet over, but a wave of creative energy had already filled the laboratories of Lodz University of Technology. Young researchers from Poland and across Europe bent over their laptops, their heads full of ideas, working on papers that would impress at the prestigious ACM CHI 2026 conference. This was the fifth edition of the CHIncredible Manuscript Marathon, which transformed the university into a hub of international HCI.

Eighty years of history, community, and the future – this, in short, sums up the jubilee celebrations of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Lodz University of Technology. On 9 September, the academic community celebrated not only the milestone anniversary but also the opening of the renovated Szaja Rosenblatt building – a place that today symbolically connects the heritage of the past with modernity. The Public High School of Lodz University of Technology has officially been named after its founder – Professor Jan Krysiński. The ceremony, held on 9 September 2025 in the Prof. T. Paryjczak Auditorium at Alchemium, brought together university authorities, representatives of the city and region, educators, the professor’s family – his wife Dr. Halina Krysińska and son Dr. Eng. Tomasz Krysiński – as well as teachers, students, and alumni. Photo gallery

A publication by scientists from the Institute of Molecular and Industrial Biotechnology – Maciej Nielipiński, M.Sc., Agnieszka Pietrzyk-Brzezińska, Ph.D., and Bartosz Sekuła, Ph.D., D.Sc.  – was honored by the Crystallography Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences with the prestigious title “Crystallographic Diamond” in the category of biological and medical crystallography. In this article, the authors present the results of their research and explain its significance.

Lodz University of Technology has secured over PLN 2.1 million in funding under the OPUS 28 + LAP scheme from the National Science Centre (NCN) to implement the project “NIR-CURATOR”, focused on implant-associated infections. The project will be carried out in collaboration with researchers from the Czech Republic.

Dr Magdalena Gajek from the Institute of General and Environmental Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry at TUL, has been awarded the Prize of the Committee of Analytical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences for the best doctoral dissertation in analytical chemistry in Poland. Her thesis was awarded the prestigious MS Spectrum Award, given for outstanding achievements in spectrometry.

Road logistics is a branch of the economy that is particularly sensitive to fluctuations in fuel prices, environmental rigours and market pressures. In this context, innovations that combine operational efficiency with climate responsibility are gaining in importance. For just such a project, Dr Radosław Gajewski from the Faculty of Organisation and Management received the 2024 Award of the Polish Logistics Association.

Students from the Kollaps Research Club of the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Sciences took part in the prestigious Mouillette d'Argent perfume competition. This year's edition was centred around the aroma of rockrose (Cistus). In the picturesque gardens of Barcelona, not only did the scents of this Mediterranean plant melt away, but the excitement of young perfume creators from all over the world could also be felt.
