„Życie Uczelni” information bulletin of the TUL

The Summer School at the University of Aveiro, part of the Math3DGeoVR project, attracted 25 students from five universities: Lodz University of Technology, the University of Silesia, the University of Aveiro, the University of Zilina and Tartu Ulikool,  as well as 13 academic teachers. It was an intense, but energizing and growth-oriented week. The event took place from June 17 to 21, 2024.

The day began with the online publication of the results of the 25 edition of the ranking compiled by the Education Foundation ‘Perspektywy’. Lodz University of Technology moved up one place and is now the eight best academic university in Poland. Tul kept its position from last year and remains the fifth best technical university in the country.

The Interdisciplinary Doctoral School of Lodz University of Technology (ISD TUL) has  established cooperation with the Łódzkie Voivodeship local government and, as a result, has been granted earmarked funding for 2024. The funds are intended for doctoral scholarships for young researchers who, while studying at ISD TUL, pursue innovative research projects contributing in a crucial way to the technological advancement of the region of Łódź.

Prof. dr hab. inż. Krzysztof Jóźwik, rector of Lodz University of Technology, was elected Chairman of the Konferencja Rektorów Polskich Uczelni Technicznych (Conference of Rectors of Polish Universities of Technology (KRPUT) for the 2024-2028 term by unanimous decision made on June 20 during the KRPUT Plenary Assembly hosted by Gdansk University of Technology.

The aim of the cooperation between Lodz University of Technology and Krajowa Grupa Spożywcza S.A. (KGS) is to boost innovation in the agricultural, food and feed sectors of the Polish economy.

Lodz University of Technology, in collaboration with universities from Norway, Belgium, and Spain, is set to do research to address the environmental challenges associated with the textile industry. The mounting demand for sustainable alternatives in textile recycling is given particular urgency in the context of an EU directive that requires the separate collection of household textiles by 2025.

Prof. dr hab. inż. Jacek Moll, an outstanding cardiac surgeon, well-respected physician, true artist in merging medicine and engineering, and a compassionate soul was awarded an honorary doctorate by Lodz University of Technology. A heart-warming albeit solemn ceremony, attended by many distinguished guests, was held on June 19.

Academics from the TUL's Institute of Mathematics are going to pursue a project funded with a grant from the National Science Center under its prestigious IMPRESS-U call (International Multilateral Partnerships for Resilient Education and Science System in Ukraine).

The National Center for Research and Development has announced the results of the evaluation of proposals submitted for the European Funds for Social Development 2021-2027 program called Education to meet the needs of the economy.

Lodz University of Technology was granted the fourth largest allocation of funding. Out of the 211 proposals submitted for approval, 47 projects will obtain financial support.

The Hackathon HCK NA Health was organized by the Careers Office of the Medical University of Lodz, in cooperation with Lodz University of Technology, FUMED Foundation for the Medical University of Lodz, and the Student Government of UMed. The Careers Office of Lodz University of Technology, in collaboration with the TUL Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, also co-organized the event.

Team Raptors have yet another triumph to their credit in the Droniada Challenge - it is not the first time they have stood on the podium.

Announced during a gala attended by representatives of nearly 50 companies were the winners of the Competition for The Best Employer of Łódzkie Voivodeship Award by Students of Lodz University of Technology. Awards in the two subcategories: The Best 2023 internship/work placement program for students of Lodz University of Technology and The Best Employer of the Lodz ICT Cluster by students of Lodz University of Technology were also revealed.

Students from the section for individuals with disabilities had a fantastic performance at the AZS Polish Integration Championships in Athletics. They won no fewer than 6 medals at the event held in Gdańsk (June 7-9, 2024).

THE Impact ranking factors in the pursuit of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

The results of latest edition of this prestigious ranking once again saw Lodz University of Technology rank 1st in Poland for Goal 8: Decent work and economic growth, which earned it a place in the global TOP 200 in this category.

The Day of Environmental Engineering brought in several environmental engineering companies eager to introduce students to their fields of business activity and employment opportunities.
