On Friday (12 August), Vice-President of the Management Board - National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW), Artur Michalski, and the Vice-Rector for Education at TUL, Professor Andrzej Romanowski, signed an agreement to subsidise the thermomodernization of TUL buildings.

The amount of PLN 11.5 million will be earmarked for the thermomodernisation of two buildings - the Centre for Excellence in Universal Design (CDPU; A7) and a non-public kindergarten and crèche for children of students and employees of the university (A14). The project is being implemented under the EU's Infrastructure and Environment Programme 2014-2020.

The new centre (CDPU) will expand the university's offer of universal design and collaboration with other universities and experts. It will act as a centre for developing proprietary solutions for equal opportunities and non-discrimination, including accessibility for people with disabilities. It will be located in one of the laboratory buildings on Campus A, which, after a major refurbishment, will be a place for expertise preparation, training and education.

The construction of modern and energy-efficient buildings will contribute not only to reducing energy consumption, but also carbon dioxide emissions. The use of such construction will allow savings related to lower energy and heating bills (heat demand savings of approximately 76.24% on average in both buildings).
