Scientific achievements

Dr Eng. Małgorzata Latos-Brózio from the Faculty of Chemistry at Lodz University of Technology is a distinguished researcher in polymer chemistry and functional materials. Her scientific output includes 37 publications in the international scientific community and numerous patent achievements.

Research profile and research directions

Her scientific interests concern biodegradable polymers, bio-fillers, polyphenols, and the processes of aging, stabilization, and biodegradation of polymer composites. Dr Eng. Latos-Brózio develops modern elastomeric and thermoplastic composites with enhanced resistance to oxidation and photodegradation, and controlled compostability. The most significant achievement is the analysis of the properties of naturally derived compounds, mainly from the polyphenol group, and the assessment of their stabilizing effect in aliphatic polyesters. These achievements are important for the global development of sustainable polymer materials with a controlled life cycle. She carried out the PRELUDIUM project and is currently working on the SONATA project, which focuses on the use of natural additives and polyphenols in polymer materials.

She actively operates at the intersection of fundamental research and implementation solutions. She works in Professor Anna Masek’s team on developing eco-friendly polymer composites and presents research findings at international forums focused on polymers, polyphenols, and functional materials. Her activities have clear implementation potential, reinforced by numerous patents.

Honours and recognition from the scientific community

She has been awarded for her scientific and inventive activities. She is a co-author of a technology that won the main prize at the World Chemical Inventions Competition. She also received awards at the Polish Future Product 2021 competition (the Future Product of Higher Education and Science Institutions) and at Łódzkie Eureka 2020. Simultaneously, she obtained several patents related to polymer composites with increased resistance to aging and susceptibility to composting.
