Scientific achievements

Professor Marek Kozicki from the Faculty of Material Technologies and Textile Design at Lodz University of Technology is a specialist in materials engineering, radiation chemistry, ionizing and UV radiation dosimetry, the design of functional polymer and hydrogel materials, and chemical modification of fiber and textile materials. His scientific output includes 91 publications listed in the JCR. For many years, he has led the DosLab research group, conducting interdisciplinary research at the interface of chemistry, materials engineering, medical physics, and biomaterials technology.

Research profile and research directions

His scientific interests focus on fundamental and application studies involving the design of materials for measuring radiation dose distributions, including 0D, 1D, 2D, and 3D dosimeters intended for applications in radiotherapy, quality assurance of medical devices, and verification of treatment plans for oncology patients. Professor Kozicki also conducts research on UV radiation dosimetry, functional polymer materials, hydrogels, textile composites, and 3D printing technologies for polymer materials and biomaterials.

Among his significant achievements is the development of a technology for 3D printing structured chemical hydrogels for cell culture, manufactured by ink-jet printing under freezing conditions using a photochemical process. This solution was described in a paper published in Chemical Engineering Journal and protected by a patent concerning a method for printing 3D objects from chemical and physical hydrogels. This research supports the development of modern functional materials and biomaterials with potential applications in tissue engineering, cell culture studies, and polymer materials chemistry.

Honours and recognition from the scientific community

Professor Kozicki is the author and co-author of 18 patents, including solutions concerning UV radiation dosimeters, reversible film dosimeters, 3D printing of hydrogel objects, and methods for verifying the authenticity of textile and paper products. His research has significant practical importance, enabling testing of medical accelerators, measurement of radiation dose distributions, and development of quality assurance systems in radiotherapy.

Since 1999, he has collaborated with the University of Athens, including its Physics School and Medical School. He has also cooperated with the Medical University of Vienna in the field of clinical radiotherapy applications of 3D polymer gel dosimeters. He is a member of the international organizing committee of the IC3DDose conference, a member of the Polish Radiation Research Society, and a reviewer for more than 30 scientific journals. He has been included among the World’s Top 2% Scientists according to the Stanford/Elsevier ranking and has received numerous awards for scientific achievements and innovative material solutions.    Profesor Marek Kozicki z Wydziału Włókiennictwa i Wzornictwa Politechniki Łódzkiej jest specjalistą w zakresie inżynierii materiałowej, chemii radiacyjnej, dozymetrii promieniowania jonizującego i UV, projektowania funkcjonalnych materiałów polimerowych i hydrożelowych oraz chemicznej modyfikacji włókna i wyrobów włókienniczych. Jego dorobek naukowy obejmuje 91 publikacji z bazy JCR. Od wielu lat kieruje grupą badawczą DosLab, prowadzącą interdyscyplinarne badania na styku chemii, inżynierii materiałowej, fizyki medycznej i technologii biomateriałów.
