Scientific achievements
Dr Eng. Justyna Miedzianowska-Masłowska from the Faculty of Chemistry at Lodz University of Technology is a specialist in polymer chemistry and technology, elastomeric materials, and biocomposites. Her scientific output includes 37 publications listed in the JCR. She is a co-author of six national patents and two patent applications concerning innovative elastomeric and biocomposite materials.
Research profile and research directions
Her scientific interests focus on the design, modification, and characterization of modern polymer, elastomeric, and composite materials. A key area of her research is the use of functional biofillers and bioadditives derived from renewable and waste raw materials, such as plant biomass, cereal straw, biochar, phyto-ashes, and plant extracts. Dr Miedzianowska-Masłowska develops solutions aimed at improving the mechanical, barrier, anti-aging, and functional properties of materials while reducing their environmental impact.
Among her most significant achievements is the development of a new generation of functional biofillers and bioadditives for elastomers and polymer composites, carried out, among others, within an NCN PRELUDIUM project. Her research supports the objectives of MoleculeTech by combining chemical modification, functional material design, and sustainable polymer chemistry. She is currently also developing technologies for the recycling of polyolefin films and the modification of recyclates to obtain materials with enhanced performance properties.
Honours and recognition from the scientific community
Dr Justyna Miedzianowska-Masłowska’s scientific standing is demonstrated by her role as the principal investigator of the PRELUDIUM project funded by the Polish National Science Centre, funding under the FU2N – Young Scientists’ Skills Enhancement Fund, and R&D activities in collaboration with industry, including Hitachi Energy Sweden AB, EMPIREUM, Covestro, Fraunhofer, Fresenius Kabi Polska, SWM, and Borg Automotive. Her research is recognized through patent protection of developed solutions, publications in journals including Cellulose, European Polymer Journal, Polymer Testing, and Industrial Crops and Products, as well as awards for high-impact publications granted under the “Excellence Initiative – Research University” programme. The impact of her research is also reflected in international collaboration, including with Kaunas University of Technology within the European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU), involving joint research and the preparation of future international research projects.
