Scientific achiecements

Professor Beata Gutarowska from the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Science at Lodz University of Technology is a distinguished specialist in chemical engineering, environmental microbiology, and the biodeterioration of materials. Her scientific output includes 165 publications in international journals, 9 monographs, and numerous patents.

RESEARCH PROFILE AND RESEARCH DIRECTIONS

Her research focuses on modern chemical engineering and environmental biotechnology, with particular emphasis on developing innovative technologies utilizing microorganisms and their metabolites. Her work has contributed to the development of eco-friendly bioproducts for agriculture and solutions that support environmental protection, in line with the principles of sustainable development. A significant part of her research concerns the mechanisms of microbial biodeterioration of technical materials and the development of modern methods for the protection of historic objects. She has led interdisciplinary projects, including collaborations with the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, aimed at preserving material cultural heritage. Currently, she is focused on developing a new generation of green biocides for object protection and innovative bioproducts based on unconventional yeasts to support the ecological protection of fruit trees against phytopathogens. Projects that combine high-quality scientific research with practical applications aligned with global trends in sustainable technology development are particularly important to her.

RECOGNITION AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FROM THE SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY

Prof. Gutarowska is actively involved in national and international scientific organizations. She serves as a Board Member of the International Biodeterioration and Biodegradation Society, Chair of the Łódź Branch of the Polish Microbiological Society and a member of the Engineering and Technical Sciences Panel of the Scientific Excellence Council representing Chemical Engineering. She organized 11 international conferences on the biodeterioration of technical materials and their protection. She develops extensive international cooperation, particularly in the areas of cultural heritage protection and green biocides, exemplified by the Polish-Czech collaboration on the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship EU project.

For her scientific and implementation activities, she has been repeatedly awarded. She is a co-author of 10 national patents and a laureate of 5 medals at international innovation exhibitions.
