The halfway point of the European Universities Games saw two fantastic events over the weekend. Both were organised on Piotrkowska Street, the heart of the city.
I meet with EUSA (European University Sports Association) President Adam Roczek on the occasion of the European Universities Games (EUG) taking place in Lodz. This great celebration of sport, opened on a grand scale and bringing together 5,000 participants from 37 countries, is therefore an opportunity to talk about student sport, its development and prospects, as well as to assess the organisation of the championships in Lodz.

The European Universities Games opened with a ceremony that had all the elements worthy of a major sporting and academic event.
For the athletes, the greatest thrill and joy was walking across the tarmac of the Atlas Arena, for Rector Prof. Jóźwik it was a rain of confetti that fell on the stage when he cut the ribbon, symbolising with this act the opening of the Games, and for the others it was a wonderful music and film show.
The clock set in a central location in Łódź will soon end the countdown and the world's biggest sporting event of the year will begin. More and more international teams are coming to the campus of Lodz University of Technology. The official opening of the European Universities Games (EUG) will take place on Sunday 17 July at the Atlas Arena.

C CUBE is a new spin-off of Lodz University of Technology. The name "C CUBE" is the mathematical form of the C3 acronym for the words Composites/Costructions/Controls, which are the company's main areas of interest. The motivation for starting the C3 company's business is the desire to fill the market niche that is NDT (non-destructive testing) of structures made of composite materials.

Ultra-fast DCU-HM circuit breakers for electric traction developed at Lodz University of Technology in cooperation with Zakład Aparatury Elektrycznej 'WOLTAN' sp. z o.o. from Lodz were awarded in the Polish Product of the Future competition. A total of 163 projects from fields such as IT, electronics, medicine and biotechnology were submitted for the competition.

Professor Beata Kolesińska from the TUL Faculty of Chemistry has won the title of Person of the Year 2022. This prestigious award is granted annually by the editors of Panorama Gospodarcza to two people - a man and a woman. The award was presented during the International Economic Forum, which was held for the fourth time.

Lodz University of Technology has received an extension for another 3 years - until 17 June 2025 - of its entitlement to the HR Excellence in Research award granted by the European Commission and to use its logo. For the first time, Lodz University of Technology was among the research institutions that were awarded this important "mark of excellence" back in May 2016.

The game Bzzz! – ‘Together in Power’ designed by applied computer science students from the Faculty of Technical Physics, Information Technology and Applied Mathematics won an award in the Best Gameplay category of the Indie Showcase competition at the international Game Access Conference held in Brno.
