The year 2021coming to its end brought many successes and unique events to Lodz University of Technology, often of a remote nature. Most competitions, open days and events were still held online. Despite pandemic restrictions, we sometimes managed to meet face-to-face at university events, which after a long period of not seeing each other made everyone very happy. Our researchers and students have won numerous awards and medals for their scientific and sporting achievements. We invite you to a quick review of the most important successes and events of Lodz University of Technology.

Researchers from the Faculty of Process and Environmental Engineering at Lodz University of Technology in cooperation with Otto-von-Guericke Universität Magdeburg (OVGU) will conduct research on a new spray drying technology. For this purpose, they have received nearly one million PLN from the National Science Centre from the OPUS + LAP programme.

The ancients approached music as a science. Pythagoras and his students believed that the sound proportions reflected the harmony of the cosmos. The Choir of Lodz University of Technology knows something about this, because its members combine the scientific and artistic minds in one. An example is Beata Rurarz, the president of the Choir, who does her doctorate with flying colours, because without music she cannot even imagine counting. Ludwig van Beethoven said: “It doesn't matter if you play a wrong note. Playing without passion is unforgivable! ”. Fortunately, our choristers do not lack passion!

The local government of the Lodz Voivodeship awarded a grant of PLN 385,000 to Lodz University of Technology for a research and teaching laboratory called RobOKOp-LAB, which will use oculography, i.e. visual activity tracking. The laboratory will conduct research on the nature and methods of work in the future.

Researchers from Lodz University of Technology have won a prestigious EUROfusion Engineering Grants (EEG), awarded for the first time to Polish scientists. The team will conduct research on the system monitoring the production of fusion plasma.

Chronic and intense stress causes mental and physical health problems such as mental disorders (e.g., depression, anxiety, substance abuse), cardiovascular, musculoskeletal disorders, negatively affects the immune system, fertility, and produces many other symptoms. It contributes to many disabilities and may cause a severe economic burden. The aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic is yet to be fully understood. Switching to an online model has been a challenge for both educators and students. Researchers from Poland, Spain, and Estonia are working on chill spots to help solve these civilization problems.
