Friday, 17 September, will be the day of two important ceremonies at Lodz University of Technology. The first of them is the opening of the building Alchemium - the magic of chemistry of tomorrow and naming the representative lecture hall located there after Professor Tadeusz Paryjczak, whose commemorative plaque will be unveiled in the hall in front of the auditorium. The ceremony will begin at 10:00.

Two hours later, Professor Klaus Müllen, a German scientist of international renown in the scientific community, will receive an honorary doctorate of Lodz University of Technology.

Both ceremonies will take place in the Alchemium building (building A34), 114 Żeromskiego Street.

Professor Beata Kolesińska from the Faculty of Chemistry at Lodz University of Technology has been awarded the Ambassador of Innovation prize by the Europejski Ośrodek Rozwoju Gospodarki. The researcher was awarded for conducting research work and pioneering projects with application potential.

I am very pleased because the goal I have been pursuing for several years has been achieved - said Ola Bednarek after crossing the English Channel. Wednesday 21 July was her big day. By crossing the English Channel, she was the first Pole to win the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming.

These were awarded in the accreditation assessment procedure carried out by Fundacja Rozwoju Edukacji i Szkolnictwa Wyższego [Foundation for the Development of Education and Higher Education] and the PRC Agency. An additional Aurea Praxis award was granted to the Rector, Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik, for his special, personal involvement in the development and promotion of the idea of education for the labour market and business. 

This year, in order to assist the development of students at Lodz University of Technology, Lodz University of Technology Foundation has organised a Santander Universidades awards competition in cooperation with the Santander Group
Applications for the award could be submitted by first- or second-cycle students with good academic results and significant achievements in scientific, artistic or social activities, cooperation with business or success in competitions.

Prof. Tomasz Kapitaniak from Lodz University of Technology has become a member of Academia Europaea, an elite association of scientists that advises the European Commission.

Lodz University of Technology is starting international cooperation with partners from France, Germany, Sweden and North Macedonia in order to jointly implement a two-year project entitled Building digital competencies of students and teachers in construction related degrees & incrEasing digitAl reaDiness of EU universities. The project coordinator at Lodz University of Technology is Assoc. Prof. Eng. Arch. Anetta Kępczyńska-Walczak from the Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning.

Lodz University of Technology is a partner in a project whose aim is to implement an innovative technology for the production of kombucha, a drink with interesting taste and health-boosting properties.
The project, implemented under the Intelligent Development Operational Programme, has received over 8.5 million PLN in funding. Its leader is Fabryka Lemoniad FL Grupa Sp. z o.o.

The prestigious journal "Nature Reviews Chemistry" published an article by Prof. Katarzyna Pernal and Dr Michał Hapka from the Institute of Physics at Lodz University of Technology. The publication placed in the News and Views section was prepared at the invitation of the editor.

Lodz University of Technology has concluded new double diploma agreements with universities in France. On 14 May, Rector Professor Krzysztof Jóźwik signed a document on cooperation with universities in Lyon and Strasbourg.

The GUST Project, developed by students from Lodz University of Technology, won 1st place in the Ecology category in the Student Constructions Competition (KOKOS). The results of the latest edition of the Times Higher Education Impact ranking of universities' implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals underpinning the 2030 Agenda for a Sustainable World have been published.  

It is the youngest at Lodz University of Technology and is just turning 30. The Faculty of Management and Production Engineering is celebrating its jubilee. It was established on 24 April 1991 as the Faculty of Organisation and Management; it has borne its current name since 2017. Almost 15 thousand people have already graduated from it.

Rector Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik accepted the Made in Poland 2020 award granted to Lodz University of Technology from the President of Polska Agencja Przedsiębiorczości (PAP), Wojciech Pomarański.
