Admissions for second-cycle studies at Lodz University of Technology starts at the beginning of February. Students with a BSc or BA degree may choose between 26 majors taught in Polish and 6 in English. This year, new majors are being offered by the University, two of them (Human-Computer Interaction and Nanotechnology) taught in English, the third novelty being Sustainable Bioeconomy.
Admissions will last until February 19th. Interviews with candidates have been planned for February 22nd.

The results of admissions will be announced on February 25th.

On February 1st, the Rector of Lodz University of Technology, Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik, published an announcement informing that in the summer semester of the academic year 2020/21, until further notice, all the rules and restrictions regarding the functioning of the university in force in the winter semester will be maintained. This applies in particular to the process of education, which for all forms and levels of studies will be, as a rule, carried out remotely, using distance learning methods and tools.

The new Council of Lodz University of Technology gathered at its first meeting. The TUL Senate elected the Council for the term lasting from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2024, and it is chaired by Dr. Mirosław Sopek, founder and vice-president for technology of the MakoLab SA Board. Other Members of the Council are: dr inż. Tomasz Krysiński, Vice President for Development and Innovation of Airbus Helicopters, mgr inż. Dariusz Wojciech Szewczyk, President of the Board of Radio Łódź, and from the academic community of the university: prof. Andrzej Bartoszewicz, prof. Wojciech Wolf and dr hab. inż. Jacek Sawicki assoc. prof. Among the members of this body is also the president of the student government, Julia Chojnacka.

Lodz University of Technology, in cooperation with international partners, implements didactic projects related to the use of mixed reality, including virtual and augmented reality, in the educational process. Introducing the latest technologies to transfer knowledge and skills is a more engaging form of education for students.

In three projects financed under the Erasmus+ programme, consortium members from Croatia, Estonia, Portugal, Czech Republic and Nofer Institute of Occupational Medicine in Łódź are working on didactic materials to support education in management, universal design and anatomy.

#EKOlogicznie with TUL is the title of discussions that will appear on the university's Facebook page on Tuesdays, every two weeks. The ecological awareness of a growing part of the society, which is almost universal among young people, proves how important the subject of a clean environment and a healthy lifestyle is. Experts from TUL, for whom ecology is not only a passion but also a subject of scientific research, will advise on how to be a conscious consumer, suggest what decisions are worth making while caring for the environment. They will answer questions and doubts, because also in the subject of ecology there is no shortage of "false truths".

Students of Lodz University of Technology have chosen the company which in their opinion is the best employer in the Lodz region in 2020. The winner of the vote was Ericsson. The Rector of Lodz University of Technology, Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik, will present the representatives of the company with a commemorative statuette and a diploma. Lodz University of Technology will be working on the design of a microalgae separation system. Microalgae are now being used to a limited extent due to the complicated process and high cost of extracting these sea treasures. They grow in salt water and can be used to supplement the resources of microorganism grown in freshwater and in agricultural areas, used in the production of food, chemical products and medicines.

The leader of the project is the biotechnological start-up uFraction8 PL, partnered with the Institute of Turbomachinery of Lodz University of Technology, as well as the Pintech Quantum and Get Models Now companies.

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education has allocated 6.5 million PLN to Lodz University of Technology, to subsidize the investment project called “Renovation of the 2nd Dormitory”.

The renovation is necessary mainly due to the situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemics and the need to minimize the risk of contracting COVID-19 among students and dormitory personnel. Moreover, housing offered by the university should guarantee the possibility of isolating the ill, which makes it necessary to increase the number of individual rooms with bathrooms.

Lodz University of Technology and the Lodz Voivodship have concluded an agreement on cooperation in the field of cyber security. The plan is to create a nationally unique "Competence Centre for Computer Forensics and Cyber Security", the first element of which will be a "Workshop for digital modelling of crime scenes", which Lodz University of Technology will equip with specialist equipment. The voivodship will provide PLN 282,000 for this purpose. The university's own contribution will amount to PLN 94,000.

The National Centre for Research and Development has published a list of projects selected in the competition "Accessible university II. The university will receive nearly PLN 15 million from the Operational Programme "Knowledge Education Development" for the activities planned in the project.

- Such a large amount of funding means that we have planned many activities that match the title of the project - Accessible Lodz University of Technology. Our application has 268 pages, and when I put my signature on each of them, I knew that this is the beginning of changes which will strengthen the widely understood openness of the university,' says the Rector, professor Krzysztof Jóźwik

The Academic Sports Gala was originally scheduled to take place in October at the Sports Bay of Lodz University of Technology. Due to the pandemic the plans were changed and this year's summary of the sporting competition took place online on Tuesday, 15 December. Lodz University of Technology once again stood on the podium in the medal classification.

The University has published regulations of incentive awards. The aim of this initiative is to strive for Lodz University of Technology gaining the status of a Research University. It will not be possible without, among others, a large number of widely cited publications and research projects carried out under prestigious grants.
