The MINIATURE competition, announced for the 4th time by the National Science Centre, has selected 178 winners. Eight scientists from Lodz University of Technology will receive grants. This is a success, because according to the published ranking list, only 31 projects from technical universities will receive funding. Therefore, we would all the more like to congratulate our scientists on the financial support for the preparation of a research project.

The just published QS Emerging Europe&Central Asia University Rankings classified 400 universities. Lodz University of Technology was classified on 91st position, up by 10 places in comparison to last year. This is the biggest edition of the ranking so far.

The National Agency for Academic Exchange has announced the results of the recruitment process for the 3rd edition of the Mieczysław Bekker Programme. One of the scholarship holders is Dr Maciej Fronczak from the Faculty of Process and Environmental Engineering at Lodz University of Technology. The young scientist will embark on a postdoctoral internship at the Natural Sciences Research Centre in Budapest
The Students’ Self-Government of Lodz University of Technology has decided to elect the Best Teacher of the Year 2019/2020. Times are such that students and staff see each other more often through a computer screen than in person. Education, although more online, has not ceased to be a real source of acquiring knowledge and competences. The new situation requires both the teachers and the students to meet different challenges.
Open Access publications are an important part of the open model of scientific communication. They also bring many benefits to their authors. At the beginning of the new year, Lodz University of Technology launched a special path to subsidise the costs of Open Access publications, which have at least 100 points according to the current ministerial list (currently journals are assigned 20, 40, 70, 100, 140 or 200 points).
The European Commission announced its decision to award the universities with the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) for 2021-2027. The application of Lodz University of Technology submitted by the International Cooperation Centre (CWM) received a maximum score of 100 points! The Erasmus Charter entitles to apply for funds in the new EU financial perspective. Thanks to these funds, it will be possible to implement activities in the Erasmus+ programme, such as student and staff mobility and participation in international educational projects.
Lodz University of Technology together with partners from France, Portugal, Spain, the Netherlands and Hungary representing research centers and companies related to the shipbuilding industry has obtained funding in Horizon 2020 programme. The consortium will implement a project for which the European Union has allocated PLN 26 million. From this amount, almost 900 thousand zlotys will be spent on research conducted by Lodz University of Technology.
On Wednesday, December 9th, Perspektywy published the results of the EngiRank (European Ranking of Engineering Programs), which classifies 81 universities (the so-called institutional ranking) and the engineering programs implemented by them (rankings by subject). Lodz University of Technology was ranked high in these rankings.
