Scientific achievements
Agnieszka Wosiak, PhD, DSc, is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Technical Physics, Information Technology, and Applied Mathematics at Lodz University of Technology. She specializes in artificial intelligence, data science, and biomedical informatics. Her research focuses on developing and validating methods for analyzing complex biomedical data and applying them to computer-aided medical diagnosis. A major strand of her work concerns model quality and reliability, feature selection and interpretation, and the identification of patterns that differentiate clinical cases.
Research profile and research directions
She conducts research on medical images, EEG signals, and clinical and spectroscopic data using machine learning. Her work addresses diagnostic challenges in neurodegenerative, oncological, and metabolic diseases, as well as in cognitive and affective states. She collaborates with medical teams, combining the development of computational methods with real-world diagnostic challenges. She participated in an R&D project focused on non-invasive monitoring and diagnosis of functional lower urinary tract disorders in children. Her current research focuses on artificial intelligence methods for analyzing brain magnetic resonance images and multimodal data, with an emphasis on early detection of neurodegenerative changes and model interpretability.
Honours and recognition from the scientific community
Her international research experience includes visits to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University, Olin College, and University College London. She is a member of the Polish Artificial Intelligence Society, the Polish Society of Applied Electromagnetics, and the SEP Committee for Applications of Electromagnetic Fields in Medicine. She serves as a reviewer for international scientific journals. She has received multiple awards from the Rector of Lodz University of Technology, including a joint award from the Rectors of Lodz University of Technology and the Medical University of Lodz for the best inter-university research publication.
