Dr hab. inż. Marta Gmurek, TUL professor, Faculty of Process and Environmental Engineering has been accepted to the Young Academy of Europe (YAE). She is the first individual from Łódź to have joined this primary league of young researchers.

The International Cooperation Centre of TUL, thanks to the NAWA - National Agency for Academic Exchange, under the 'Strategic Partnerships' programme, is implementing a new stage of the project 'ActiveD2-Active Double Degree - Implementation of a joint degree model based on active teaching and learning methods'. One of its tasks is participation in study visits, during which students from our university carry out process and technology audits in France, while students from the partner university in&ma (École Supérieure de la Performance) visit companies in Poland. Two of the four trips planned as part of the project have already taken place.

The results of the call for proposals submitted under ACTION 2 Cooperation partnerships in higher education have been announced. The project submitted by TUL International Cooperation Centre #edu4sdgs - Building a Comprehensive Educational Ecosystem for Sustainable Development Goals was among the Top10 applications that received funding. It refers to two issues - emotional intelligence and the Sustainable Development Goals as defined in Agenda 2030.

Aleksander Skóra, a student of the Lodz University of Technology Secondary School, won a silver medal at the 34th International Biological Olympiad, held in the United Arab Emirates. During the closing ceremony, he stepped onto the podium, holding the Polish flag, feeling quite pleased with the tremendous success he had achieved. The President of the Republic of Poland presented Paolo Di Barba of the University of Pavia the nomination act for full professorship in Engineering and Technology.
Dr inż. Ernest Stano of the Institute of Mechatronics and Information Systems, Lodz University of Technology has been recognized with a scholarship for excellent young researchers awarded by the Minister of Education and Science.
The laureate graduated from the Faculty of Electric, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering. He defended his doctoral dissertation with honors last year, just four years of his graduation. The 29-year-old researcher's track record is quite impressive. He has authored and co-authored 24 publications, six patents, and has carried out three research grants.

A group of researchers in the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Science, including dr inż. Joanna Grzelczyk, dr inż. Gałązka-Czarnecka, and dr inż. Joanna Oracz, have been working edible packaging and dishware. The technology they have been developing takes advantage of vegetative waste. Their innovative project called Mixture for the production of disposable biodegradable packaging and tableware, especially for use in the food industry, and a method of their production took second place in the competition "Eureka! DGP - discovering Polish inventions".
The latest Hot Topics in Science and Technology series featured dr. Jacek Gwizdka, Associate Professor at the University of Texas at Austin, who delivered a lecture on “Neuro-physiological evidence as a basis for understanding human-information interaction”. In an interview for Życie Uczelni, Jacek talks about his professional career trajectory and research.
With the beginning of July, the second edition of the Spinaker project, funded by NAWA with EU funds, kicked off at the Faculty of OiZ. The first one was successfully held in April.

The project has been in development since 2015. New students have been joining the team in place of those graduating, yet one thing has remained constant - the GUST turbine has been a tour de force project. At the International Small Wind Turbine Contest in the Netherlands, the team working on the GUST project have just achieved another spectacular win. Their small but highly innovative wind turbine won first place, achieving in addition the best result in the category of the highest per annum energy production.
