The project has been in development since 2015. New students have been joining the team in place of those graduating, yet one thing has remained constant - the GUST turbine has been a tour de force project. At the International Small Wind Turbine Contest in the Netherlands, the team working on the GUST project have just achieved another spectacular win. Their small but highly innovative wind turbine won first place, achieving in addition the best result in the category of the highest per annum energy production.

Year 2023 has been rather special for the discipline of Management and Quality Studies on account of the Summer School of Management (SZL), an event regarded as iconic by the scientific community of the discipline. The conference has been held biannually since 1973. The organization of the latest, 22nd edition, was granted to the Faculty of Organization and Management of Lodz University of Technology and the Faculty of Management of the Wroclaw University of Economics. It was held under the auspices of the Committee on Organizational and Management Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, as well as of the Rectors of both universities, Professor Krzysztof Jóźwik and Professor Andrzej Kaleta.

The project dealing with carbon capture and utilization is scheduled to end in December 2023. Its activities have been carried out with the financial support of the governments of Czechia, Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary provided through the Visegrad Grants from the International Visegrad Fund.
Prof. Andrzej Marcinkowski from the Department of Organization and Management at the Lodz University of Technology (TUL) is involved in his research work, including life cycle assessment (LCA), production engineering, industrial symbiosis and energy efficiency.
Lodz University of Technology representatives successfully competed in the Polish Academic Championships in beach volleyball. Maciej Kaszewiak, a student at the Faculty of Organization and Management, and Miłosz Kruk, a student at the Faculty of Chemistry, won the title of Polish Vice-Champions. Their coach is mgr Piotr Piotrowski, TUL Sports Center.

The latest edition of the European Economic Forum - Łódzkie 2023 brought together representatives of business, politics, and academia to reflect on the prevailing challenges of the geopolitical situation and to examine current development trends. The Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning of Lodz University of Technology (IAiU) in the panel "Transformation of space - architectural and urban planning research as a source of economic innovation" explored issues related to the impact of the economy on the environment, climate, and green transformation.

The City has launched its Startups Acceleration Program Powered by Invest in Lodz (Central Poland). The kick-off event held at Zatoka Sportu TUL was attended by mentors, experts, and startups from Poland and beyond. Lodz University of Technology is one of the program's strategic partners.
Last week (14-18.06), UbiCOMP Research Group and Polskie Towarzystwo Informatyczne organized an international summer school on Human Computer Interaction (HCI) and the Internet of Things (IoT). The event was co-organized by the Institute of Applied Computer Science, the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering with the support from ACM SIGCHI Poland. Technology companies based in Lodz, Digica and TME - Transfer Multisort Elektronik, were the event's partners.

Lodz University of Technology has completed another edition of the National Academic Exchange Agency program called PROM - International Scholarship Exchange for Doctoral Candidates and Academic Staff. The purpose of the project was to strengthen international mobility of doctoral candidates, improve the quality and international character of doctoral-level training, and reinforce cooperation with international higher education institutions.
