Many people had been waiting for this meeting since the media reported at the end of November (23.11) that Dr Sławosz Uznański, a graduate of Lodz University of Technology , had become a reserve astronaut of the European Space Agency (ESA). The auditorium where the meeting was scheduled at TUL was filled to its full capacity.

Emila Brancewicz-Steinmetz, a doctoral candidate at Lodz University of Technology, was announced a winner of the Talents of Tomorrow funding program. In addition, Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego recognized the junior researcher for popularizing the importance of the 3W Idea that focused on water, hydrogen, and carbon as these resources will have a tremendous impact on our future.

More than 200 students, staff and high school students, as well as a crowd of reporters, awaited his entrance - the E1 auditorium at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science and Automation packed to capacity. Dr inż. Sławosz Uznański, a Polish astronaut candidate selected by the European Space Agency, paid a visit to his alma mater. Back in 2008, Mr Uznański graduated with honors from the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering with a degree in Electronics and Telecommunications.

It is undoubtedly one of the fastest growing branches of computer science, and at the same time a very interesting topic of scientific research. Prof. Anna Fabijanska (Hirsh Index 14, about 900 citations, professorship at 39) uses artificial intelligence to analyse digital images, among other things.

The passing year 2022 brought many unique events and spectacular successes to Lodz University of Technology. In July, the university was the main host of a major sporting event, the European Universities Games, which attracted several thousand students from over 400 universities from 37 countries.
