Professor of chemical sciences Przemysław Data from the Faculty of Chemistry at Lodz University of Technology is a distinguished specialist in materials chemistry and organic electronics, working at the intersection of chemistry, physics, electrochemistry, photophysics, materials engineering, and device technology. His scientific output includes 116 publications in leading international journals and numerous conference presentations.

Research profile and research directions

His scientific interests encompass organic semiconductors, donor-acceptor materials, electrochemistry, and spectroelectrochemistry of active layers, mechanisms of TADF, RTP, and CPL, hyperfluorescence, OLED emitters, organic transistors, and organic thermoelectric materials. Among his most significant achievements is the creation and development of an interdisciplinary platform for designing donor-acceptor organic materials for high-performance OLED emitters, combining synthesis, photophysics, electrochemistry, modelling, and device verification. These works have demonstrated how conformation, regioisomerism, heteroatom doping, and matrix interactions control TADF/RTP pathways, roll-off, and emission stability. Professor Data has carried out and continues to carry out numerous national and international research projects, including H2020 MSCA RISE OCTA, OPUS projects, and the European project Green Horizon on Organic Semiconductor Technologies – GHOST, funded under the Horizon Europe programme, and MSCA Staff Exchanges.

Professor Przemysław Data maintains extensive international collaborations. From 2025, he has been serving as a Royal Society Wolfson Visiting Fellow at the Department of Physics at Durham University. His research is also connected with collaborations with industrial partners in the fields of organic electronics, device technology, functional materials, and energy storage, including AIXTRON SE (Germany), Ossila Ltd. (United Kingdom), Merck KGaA (Germany), Proionic GmbH (Austria), The Batteries Sp. z o.o. (Poland), CENTI (Portugal).

Recognition and acknowledgement from the scientific community

He has been repeatedly awarded for his scientific activity. He is a laureate of the Prime Minister’s Award for an outstanding doctoral dissertation, a winner of the MIT Technology Review Innovators Under 35 competition, and a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions scholarship holder. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the journals Journal of Materials Chemistry C and Materials Advances, a member of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences, a member of the International Society of Electrochemistry, and a member of MENSA International. He also serves as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
