Over 1 500 places and two new majors are waiting for candidates for Master's studies at Lodz University of Technology. Admissions process begins on 31 January.

Lodz University of Technology can now be visited remotely thanks to a virtual tour available in Google Street View databases. The tour includes around 560 ground and bird's eye views. Lovers of picturesque panoramas are invited to take a sky walk, which can be done by taking a virtual walk around the spaces photographed from a drone.

Scientists from the Institute Polymer and Dye Technology, TUL, participate in a unique, international project. – For the first time we will combine, in an innovative strategy, three individually important concepts used in preparation of dressing materials, i.e. intelligent polymers reacting to external stimuli, active nanolayers and peptides released from a new composite material, as a last option of anti- infective protection against resistant pathogens- informs Assoc. Prof. Eng. Joanna Pietrasik, TUL Prof at the Faculty of Chemistry and the project leader.

The National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) has announced a list of 176 winners of the 4th edition of the Bekker internship and research programme. Among the scholarship holders is Dr Eng. Szymon Szufa from the Faculty of Process and Environmental Engineering (WIPOŚ) of Lodz University of Technology.

At the end of December 2021, the Rector of Lodz University of Technology, Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik, signed the Gender Equality Plan at Lodz University of Technology. The document provides for ensuring equality, in line with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers, and is the result of efforts by the university authorities to raise awareness of the importance of equality issues.

The year 2021coming to its end brought many successes and unique events to Lodz University of Technology, often of a remote nature. Most competitions, open days and events were still held online. Despite pandemic restrictions, we sometimes managed to meet face-to-face at university events, which after a long period of not seeing each other made everyone very happy. Our researchers and students have won numerous awards and medals for their scientific and sporting achievements. The ancients approached music as a science. Pythagoras and his students believed that the sound proportions reflected the harmony of the cosmos. The Choir of Lodz University of Technology knows something about this, because its members combine the scientific and artistic minds in one. An example is Beata Rurarz, the president of the Choir, who does her doctorate with flying colours, because without music she cannot even imagine counting. Ludwig van Beethoven said: “It doesn't matter if you play a wrong note. Playing without passion is unforgivable! ”. Fortunately, our choristers do not lack passion!

Lodz University of Technology has become a member of the European consortium of innovative universities. As the only university in Poland, TUL has joined the elite network of the European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU).

Dear all, employees, students and doctoral students of Lodz University of Technology

I have repeatedly expressed my wishes and, at the same time, my hidden desire to return to normal work, face-to-face education and to at least try to forget about the coronavirus threat as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the current situation does not make it possible to fulfil these wishes in full. The virus is still very aggressive, mutating and taking more lives.

A team of scientists headed by Prof. Tomasz Czyszanowski from the Institute of Physics, TUL, described the discovery of a new phenomenon involving the increase of optical power emitted by VCSEL lasers as a result of breaking their cylindrical symmetry. The latest issue of Nature Photonics recognizes the novelty and applicability of this discovery and dedicates to it an article from the News & Views series: "Asymmetry brings power boost".

Participation in “The Excellence Initiative- Research University” programme has so far given TUL an additional budget of PLN 6,5 million. The university subsidy has been increased by 2% of the tax subsidy. The finances obtained from the Ministry enabled the university authorities to introduce new activities to raise the research quality at TUL. One of them is a system of awards supporting scientific excellence of employees, also doctoral students and students

In the 12th edition of the LEADER Programme, the National Centre for Research and Development awarded nearly PLN 3 million in research funding to two young researchers from Lodz University of Technology: Dr Sylwester Pawęta from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Eng. Bartłomiej Cybulski, MSc from the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering.

The feeling that the voice of young scientists can be heard and can change something gives me power to work, says Assoc. Prof. Eng. Marta Gmurek, professor at the Faculty of Process and Environmental Engineering at TUL, the new Vice-Chairman of thePolish Young Academy - Polish Academy of Sciences.

This significant project provides about PLN 1 billion of funding for the digitization of public offices. It will be implemented by the Digital Poland Projects Centre(CPPC) and Lodz University of Technology.

GlobalLogic Poland and Sigfox Poland have become new participants of the Cluster. Now ICT Central Poland Cluster brings together 35 members.
