The passing year 2022 brought many unique events and spectacular successes to Lodz University of Technology. In July, the university was the main host of a major sporting event, the European Universities Games, which attracted several thousand students from over 400 universities from 37 countries.

Prof. Małgorzata Szynkowska-Jóźwik, dean of the Faculty of Chemistry at TUL, will serve as vice-president of the Association of Chemistry and the Environment (ACE).

Reducing carbon dioxide emissions is one of the biggest challenges facing civilisation. Dawid Zawadzki, M.Sc., who is designing a compact CO2 absorption device, wants to make his contribution to solving this problem. In the future, it could be used on oil platforms or ships.

On the University of Twente campus (Netherlands), the European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU) celebrated its 25th anniversary.

The first pilot Workshop for Active Use of Technology (PAKT) in Poland was opened at Lodz University of Technology on Wednesday (14 December). It will be a place to host educational workshops for children, young people and adults, based on problem-based, project-based work and the three leading STEAM pathways: robotics, programming and multimedia.

A computer game during functional magnetic resonance imaging, developed at the Institute of Information Technology at the Faculty of Technical Physics, Information Technology and Applied Mathematics at TUL, won in the "Transformation Partner/Solution Provider" category. This was the 25th edition of the competition organised by the K.I.D.S. Foundation - 'Children's Hospital of the Future'.

The XV European Economic Forum, organised by the Marshal's Office of the Łódź Voivodeship, begins on 14 December. Once again, clusters in which Lodz University of Technology takes active part will be the content partners of the event: ICT Central Poland Cluster, LODZistics, Łódź Cluster Energy Wave.

]One of the aims of the NCRD's Leader programme is to scientifically solve problems faced by industry. It assumes the transfer of knowledge from the university to the company, as in the case of Lucyna Bilińska, Ph.D., from the Faculty of Process and Environmental Engineering. With a degree in textiles and conducting research in the Department of Molecular Engineering, she is designing a technology for the treatment of textile wastewater, already used in a dyeing plant.

Advertising makes the trade go round, but emotions are at the beginning of the purchasing decision. They play a key role before the consumer decides to pay for a product. The advertising industry tries to exploit this by influencing our choices. Kamil Lubinski, M.Sc., from the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School, investigates nostalgic brand image management in the toy industry.

Lodz University of Technology (30 November) was the venue for the closing session of the OSCE Civic Solidarity Platform meeting. The conference adopted the Lodz Declaration, in which the authors call on the international community to halt Russian aggression against Ukraine, prevent impunity and ensure justice.

The Research Centre for New Biologically Active Compounds Potentially Useful in Medical Diagnostics was opened (1.12) at the Faculty of Chemistry in the Institute of Organic Chemistry of Lodz University of Technology.
