Ph.D. student position

Requirements

• MSc degree in Computer Science or a related field
• Some experience with developing deep learning algorithms
• Excellent programming skills in Python and C++ languages. Previous experience with programming using Keras / Tensor Flow / PyTorch, scikit-learn, Dlib is advantageous
• Communication and writing skills in English (at least at B2 level)
• Knowledge of French is an asset

Duties and responsibilities

• Design and implementation of machine learning algorithms in Python.
• Active participation in a process of problem-solution method elaboration
• Design of experiments and participation in system testing and data collection
• Analysis of experimental data, evaluation and fine-tuning of methods
• Participation in preparation of research papers

Conditions of Employment:
Monthly compensation: 3000.00 Polish zlotys
The position is available from March 1st, 2021 to December 31st, 2021.

The beneficiary of the National Science Centre scholarship will be selected by a committee. Application evaluation will be processed based on the Polish National Science Centre guidelines for the considered position.

Project’s scope

Project’s objective is to design, manufacture and test an application-specific VLSI analog integrated circuit that analyzes data provided by FMCW (Frequency-Modulated Continuous Wave) radar for the purpose of vital sign detection and estimation of vital process parameters. A task assigned to a Lodz University of Technology team is to develop analog-hardware friendly algorithms and architectures, including machine learning methods that enable task realization. As a computational architecture that partly meets project’s objectives has already been developed, a planned work will benefit from existing solutions and experience gathered so far.
