New computational tools based on the DMRG (density matrix renormalization group) method will be created at the Institute of Physics of Lodz University of Technology in cooperation with scientists from the Czech Academy of Sciences, within the framework of the OPUS LAP project funded by the National Science Centre and the Czech Science Foundation.

The game "Bzzz! - Together in Power" won the Best Gameplay category of the Indie Showcase competition at the international Game Access Conference held at the end of May (May 27-28) in Brno (Czech Republic). The results of the latest edition of the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings have been published, in which Lodz University of Technology was at the forefront of Polish universities.
The President of the Republic of Poland, by the decision of 30 March, granted two titles of professor of agricultural sciences in the discipline of nutrition and food technology: to Professor Katarzyna Śliżewska, and Professor Joanna Leszczyńska. Both nominees work at the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Sciences at Lodz University of Technology.
Last weekend (1-3.04), the "Sport Bay" Sports and Didactic Centre of Łódź hosted the Polish Academic Swimming Championships, which attracted over 900 competitors from 83 universities in Poland. During the two days of competition, several hundred medals were handed out. The representatives of the Łódź University of Technology gave us a lot of joy, winning as many as 18 medals, including 6 in the Open category.
Researchers from the Institute of Materials Science and Engineering at Lodz University of Technology have developed an innovative technology to produce graphene electrodes for water treatment. Thanks to the use of a new coating they have obtained electrodes that are much more durable in use and, what is most important, much cheaper. Prof. Konrad Dybowski from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, project manager, talks about the invention.
